How to clear my name from the mental health register

I hae been misdiagnosed with a mental desease, which i know that i do not have, i dont accept or beleive that i am ill mentally, and that i need that sort of treatment, but i know what i do need, and the mental health people have never given to me, or ever will, i have made a decision to discharge from their service, because of the way they have treated me very badly, and responded very badly to me. Its made me worse. i ahvent repied to their calls, or answered their calls, and for the first time in a while, i feel better to not see them, but now i just want my name cleared, and some exposure of what they have done, and also justice. Things are not perfect in my life at all, but they are not doing a thing to help me, but instead are making me feel worse, and are physically making things worse for me, it affects my life, if i evr wanted to travel to america, or australia, i would have to go through a visa process ith interviews and medical assesments, which others that are not in the mental health system would have go through, alot of things that have been written about me isnt true, and is misconceived , wrongly interpreted, and is not justified, its all based on their opinions, and sweepings statements they make is not baked up with any medical evidence at all, no brain scans etc, and then they put me on strong sedative drugs, and then tell me i have to be on them for the rest of my life, and i reject to be "helped" or treated in that way. But my main concern is clearing my name, and i wanted to know how i can do that. I was told that i should get a second opinon, but i heard from an organisation called citizens commision on human rights, which i beleive what they say is true, based on my own experience with the mental health system, is that 99./9 percent of psychiatists job is to label you with a pstychiatric disease, and then prescribe you with phsychotropic medication. So it discourages me from going down that route. But there must be some other way for me to clear my name, and i was wondering if anyone knew anything about my rights as an individual, in the uk, law, and i welcome your respnses. Thanks

    Hello xy_Annonymous,

Thanks for your post. We're sorry to hear about your difficult situation.

If you feel that the NHS has misdagnosed you, you can direct a complaint to the particular service you are unhappy with, or to your local primary care trust. If they do not satisfy your complaint, you could take it to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.

Alternatively you could possibly claim for medical negligence. If your case is successful, it seems likely that your medical records would be changed.

If you want to speak to a specialist solicitor about medical negligence, try going through Contact Law.

    Good luck,
