We lived in a Jephsons housing association home and our neighbours were awful, last Jan 11 their dogs broke through our fence and attacked a delivery man on our doorstep, we asked again for a new fence to be told no unless I paid. We made the decision to move as the dog attack was the last straw so we went back to renting private and around 3 weeks after us moving in our old neighbours and his gang walked past.

We received a letter from the dog warden telling us they were going to pay us a visit as they were working with Jephsons and the police on getting the family off the estate and Jephsons gave her our new address. I was fuming as they never asked my permission to do so under the data protection act and she was coming to see us this was march 11. They asked if we would do a statement and we told her no as they knew where we lived and they had attacked my family before for me being in the neighbourhood watch team. We told her just what our life was like there and that we had hours of footage of proof as we had to put cameras up as they would come into my property constantly. I agreed to tell her what happened but I did not want it to go any further because we were happy and wanted no trouble, I told her what this was doing to my mental health and my daughters and I did not want any retaliation to come back on us and she agreed. The dog warden had me sign the notes she had made and asked me again would I agree to her using them and they could hide our address, I said no and hiding my address would do nothing as they knew where we lived so they would know straight away.

We heard nothing until 27th Sept 11 when the neighbour verbally attacked us in the street threatening to kill us and my dogs and burn our new house down I was bloody petrified. We went straight home and my partner put our cameras back on and we phoned the police and the dog warden who claimed now that the information I gave them was used as a statement and a court case was now being held on the dog attack. I was fuming that they had used it and never even told us about any court case or what was going on. The police just said we will probably make it worse if they went round and said he was too retarded to act on his threats, this made no sense as he has been done for it before!

A couple of weeks later his mates decided to join in and scream at us, so I emailed the dog warden with a long list of court cases in regards to the neighbour his family and friends and just what they were like. He said he would speak to the police again and they contacted me so we went to speak to an inspector who told us we could have a panic alarm fitted and a house security check if we went ahead and did the statement. I asked about going to court and he said we didn’t have to unless he denied the attack, I told him that I was too petrified to go to court but I would go if I had to. The next day we made a statement and were told that he would be arrested and let out on bail with conditions.

A couple of weeks later we found out that his dog was going to be destroyed and our statement was never used in the case and the dog warden told us that the inspector said we never made one. We phoned repeatedly and went to the station and we have not heard a peep from the inspector we just keep getting fobbed off. Victim support has managed to get some answers and he is claiming I refused to go to court so they didn’t use it which is a lie. I told him I could not cope as I have mental health problems and I was too scared but I would go if I have too and he agreed.
My family now live in fear of this family who has moved 2 streets behind us and his threats on our lives, I hate taking my dogs out in case he does something and I can’t sleep. My daughter who is autistic has had to go onto anti depressants as she is not coping at all and is scared to death.

We have been used and no one even cares….

Can the dog warden use my information even though I said they couldn’t?
Has he got the right to not inform us of a court case until we are verbally attacked in the street?
Can the police get away with not acting on the statement we gave?
