    Exploited on work expereince

I did a work expereince through the job centre for 6 weeks in order to gain bar work experience. This ment I would work for my benefits and get travel allowance. I would have to work between 25 to 30 hours per week. I was told at the interview that I would be trained up on floor for 2 weeks and 2 weeks in kitchen and 2 weeks behind the bar. I have now finished the programe and now im back to where I started. I got 2 days working in kitchen and worked on floor for the rest of the 6 weeks during my time there. Working on floor consisted of taken food out and cleaning the dinning area and cleaning toilets. I wasnt giving any training and now feel like I have been used to save money.

Is there anything in the law which supports me in this situation and which I can take legal action. I feel like I have been exploited and used to save on staff wages. If I had been trained in the bar I wouldnt have a problem with doing the work expereince but now I see it doesnt benefit me at all.

so all the experience you get there, is not helping you get another job.

    Hi Needstoknow77,

    The Directgov website says this:

If you’re unhappy with the service you’ve had from a DWP contractor, like a Work Programme provider, you should complain to them first. This will give them a chance to put the matter right.

If you are unhappy with their response they must tell you how you can take your complaint further.

You should also complain to the Job Centre about your placement. Put your complaint into writing to make it formal.

    Good luck,
