I am an equal partner with my ex-wife in a small business. Just before an employee left the UK we promised him remote work which he could do overseas. He is in Japan. However, I found out that my ex-wife got him to give a written statement that implicates me in some harassment nonsense that she has claimed against me. The employee refuses to disclose to me exactly what he wrote. I clearly can no longer trust the employee. Is his behaviour grounds for dismissal? Can I ask him to attend a meeting in the UK and dismiss him if he refuses?
