    if the child father was seperated from the mother at the time of the childs birth does the mother have full parental rights

    Hi distressedgranddad,

    If the father and mother were married (even if they were separated) at the time of the birth, the father will have parental responsibility. Also if the father's name was written on the child's birth certification he will have PR.

    However, if the couple were unmarried and the father's name not written on the birth certificate, he can only acquire PR through the mother's consent or through a court order.
