    Inheritance from a dead father

    hello I have a question.

    My mom's biological father died 1995 and he is a bit rich. Can my mom claim inheritance if this is her current situation;

    1. Her biological father didnt sign her birth certificate

    2. Her mother remarried and she carried her new husband's family name and adopted the husbands family name.

    3. She was recognized by her father and her relatives( including her wife and her half sisters) but there is no contract of acknowledgement.

    4. Her father died and left something for her but she cant claim it.

    5. Can we do a DNA test to prove and support our case? How much will this test help?

    please help me..I badly need to win my mother's case.

    Hi apollosama,

    Thanks for your post. Just want to check that you are in the UK? (From your spelling of mom - thought you might be American).

    You say your grandfather left something for your mother, was this in a will? If so, your mother should be able to claim it. The executor of the will has a legal responsibility to carry out the wishes in the will of the deceased.

    If there is no will you may want to make an inheritance dispute claim. There have been previous cases in which DNA testing was used to prove paternity and therefore entitlement to inherit.

    You should speak with a solicitor for further legal advice. Try speaking to Contact Law who can match you to a specialist solicitor in your area.

    Good luck,
