moving abroad with my child

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone may be able to offer me some advice.
I have a 8 yr old child by my ex husband, we have been divorced for 7 years and its so far been amicable (no courts or CSA involved) he is name as the father on the birth certicate as we were married at the time our child was born. He currently sees our child every other weekend.
I have remarried (6 yrs ago) and my new husband has been offered a job in the USA. Its a huge opportunity for us and it could be a fabulous life. I know I have to ask my ex's permission to our child to live abroad (not that I expect him to say yes without a fight) I know that I can go to court and get a leave to remove order if the court deems it a reasonable request.
The facts at the moment are that I am a working mum, my child goes to my elderly parents after school twice a week, if we move abroad I am not going to be working so I will be home for my child always, we have friends where we are going to live also.
My question (after all that is) I know my ex won't have to continue financial support ( that say im given to understand that i could apply for financial support through the courts from him still) but who has to pay for my child to fly back for contact with my ex? (In my head I'm thinking of my child having contact for a week 3 or 4 times a year, I appreciate that my ex won't be able or want to take all his holidays off to look after our child when here so I will be proposing that i come home too, then I can care for our child during work hours then he can have our child every night. I can also see my relatives.) I was going to suggest the my ex that he set aside the financial support that he currently makes to cover our childs flights home that way he can see our child as often as possible. The contact they have via email would continue and I'd suggest that we all sign up to Skype so that can speak frequently too.
Sorry my post is so long, but that are obviously a lots of things to consider and facts to take into account.

Hi in the absence of any Agreement, it is likely that your ex would be liable for the flight costs.
