i purchased a house in 1987 with my then wife and we divorced about 15 years ago.
i paid off the mortgage in 2002, the land registry cert. states title absolute with us both as proprietors.
at the time of divorce we had 2 school age children, and i stated they could stay in the property as long as reasonably neccessary. the children are now 24 & 22 years old.
i paid for the property and also utility bills until the children left school.
i feel i have been susidising my ex,s housing cost for years now and want to redress the situation, possibly by changing to tenants in common with shares in my favour, possibly with a proviso that she can stay there for a given time before the situation is re-assessed. i dont really want the property sold right now as i think she would spend her share and neither children would ever benefit.
