I have purchased a property previously and sold it (before I was married) and therefore will not be able to buy a property under £250k and not pay stamp duty. However, my wife of very recently has not puchased previously.
My question is therefore if the property was purchased in my wife's name & not mine; would she be exempt from stampt duty for a property under £250k because she is technically a first time buiyer?
Or would we in legal terms (because we are married and now have the same surnames) be still considered together?
