    Business lease

    Hi
I am a franchisee of a cafe bar , and my lease was up for renewal through tender , which I wasn't aware and my main franchiser put a tender without my knowledge and lost to other party ,and I was told last week that I have 6 weeks to vacate the premises verbally (no written notice) . I tried to contact the agents to allow me to submit the tender as I was not aware ( and offer them £35000 pa for the tender twice the amount what my franchaser offered ) but the agent said that they have closed the tender and have agreed the terms and condition with other party . So advice me what options I have as i am trading on these premises for last 7 years with 6employees
    Many thanks

    business lease

    Hi peshouri,

There are a number of things to consider here and because of the time constraints (you only have six weeks before you are expected to have vacated the premises), it’s probably within your best interests to talk to a solicitor.

It may be possible to negotiate with the new lease holder to allow you to remain in the premises, or you may be able to stall your eviction because they have not given you written notice.

As the tender is closed, it is unlikely you will be able to retain the lease.

One thing you can do is check your franchise agreement to see if your franchisor should have given you notice of the tender.

If you don’t have a solicitor, you can find one through Contact Law. They can put you in touch with a local solicitor quickly.

    Good luck.
