    Competition issue

I have left a business as a salesmen, that I worked for for almost 15 years. I have started my own business in the samefield that I left, my contacts came with me. No clause of competition was ever done. Did not conduct business until after I left. Old employer threatening to sue that i stole his business and hardship. what do I need to do.

    Hi stephanie2013,

Thanks for your post. Sorry to hear you are having problems with your old employer.

If, as you state, you are certain that no contractual clause (known as a restrictive covenant) existed preventing you from taking these contacts with you, it is unlikely your old employer will have a strong case against you.

If you are in doubt, it may be worth contacting an employment solicitor to review your old contract. Contact Law can put you in touch with a local employment solicitor.

    Good luck,
