British Gas arranged to install cavity wall insulation at my house and sub-contracted the work to a local company. When the workmen turned up to carry out the work it was decided that, because they couldn't gain access to the gable wall due to a lean-to garage the work would not go ahead. This was not a problem. However after their departure, I discovered that on surveying the garage roof they had scratched my car on top of the wing. This scratch was definitely not there before their viisit and could only have been caused by them because my car has stood on my driveway since 1st January (these workmen arrived on 5th January). The workmen did not mention the damage to my car and I only found it after their departure.
I have phoned British Gas to inform them of the damage and they say they will get back to me. In the meantime. Should they decide to dispute my claim, I was wondering if I would be able to follow this up in the small claims court. The workmen will, obviously, say they had nothing to do with the scratch on my car and nobody saw them do it. But the vehicle has not been moved since their visit and the scratch was definitely not there beforehand as I have to pass it every time I go to the bin and it is very obvious.
Any advice is welcomed
Thanks
Sasha
