how to settle a dispute with a Hotel for reservation & modification fees

I planned to travel to London from the Feb 25 to March 5, 2012, I booked a Hotel room via Booking.com and I paid 2500 pounds with my credit card. The imposed conditions for cancelation or modification is 14 days, and if the client doesn't show up they'll charge the whole amount for reservation.

I reserved the hotel just 13 days in advance. When I confirmed my schedule, I need to arrive later than planned, but the hotel informed me that i don't have any rights to change my reservation and they'll charge me the whole amount for 2400 pounds in any case.

I was quite astonished by hearing that, since the penalty term for modification of reservation has not been specified inside their booking conditions, how can they decide themselves, I feel being screwed and knowing nothing what to do. Apparently Booking.com is on their side, I feel really being set up by the hotel.

Do I have to adresse certain public services for help? Which one?

Or do you have any suggestions?

    I really appreciate your help.

    Kindly regards.

Hi in the first instance you should make a complaint to the Hotel Manager to see if your issue can be resolved.

If it cannot, then you could try contacting consumer direct on 08454 04 05 06, which is a free Government Consumer Service.
