Is it against the law for a company to continue to use and send out brochures/marketing material that has out of date information on it?

For example, I bought some trainers online for my partner but when they arrived in the post a brochure was with them saying that they were at a lower price. We looked in the 2011/12 catalogue that his mum had bought back in October and the price was at the lower price. I phoned the company and they told me that the offer had expired and as per their t&cs prices may vary between the website, catlogues etc.

So now that the offer has expired can they still send those old brochures out for future purchases?
