Whilst a student I was overpaid a childcare grant for 2 years in spite of sending quarterly invoices which the local office should have checked- they also did not check after 1st year - prior to releasing funds for second year, consequently I accrued an additional debt of 8,900 (on top of my official student loan). I am currently paying this back but was wondering if I have grounds to have some of it wiped as if the local office had done its job the debt would not be as high.
